Recorded in the English land patent issued to Captain Christopher
Calthorpe April 26, 1631. Poquoson is the oldest city in Virginia to
have used the same name continuously. The annual Seafood Festival,
presented the 3rd weekend in October, has become one of the largest in
Tidewater. This 3 day event portrays the culture as it has endured for
generations through scenic displays and working demonstrations.
